Jack, you heard more than I did. Tommy's ride was for lip readers only. It looked great and I know it was that and more but my cable system doesn't get half of the sound sometimes and he happened to be on the quiet side.

I might also add that if Ray Charles had the Opry on, he didn't even know Tommy was playing.

What's up with that???? Our Comcast connection is the same here in Naples - I only get instruments from one half of the stage!

I didn't hear Robbie Flint with AJ, either, 'though I did see him ....

I suppose that's better than no steel at all!

Don't feel bad guys, When I did the opry this past weekend with Holly, i never heard a thing from back stage from the steel guitar section, Im not sure if the monitors there are even on, If it were not for the amp behind my head im not sure we would hear anything! maybe we need to send a chain message to gaylord to Buy a portible AM radio to sit in the sound booth so they know what were hearing.... We did a song called can't stop now, and all i was able to hear on my side of the stage was the Piano...
Hopefully better day are comming!

Thats interesting. My reception was clear as a bell on Dish Network. I heard the steel guitar loud and clear.

Same here on Comcast cable, I could everything great! Is your TV set for stereo? Are you able to hear everything on both channels on other shows? This has come up before and we weren't able to figure out what was going on then either.

I thought that when acts changed, the steel would be heard, but it was the same for all acts that performed Saturday night..................no steel heard at all on TV.

Kevin & Jim,

Gotta agree with you on this one. I thought the steel was a little low in the mix during the regular show, but at the end, the C6th work was loud & clear on my tv (Dish Network).

I have Comcast cable and heard the steel fine. My TV is a monitor with stereo audio that I run into my hifi stereo receiver so I get the sound through good speakers.

Tommy is great, dedication and God given talent, and hard work pays off..I just moved and my new cable co has neither CMT or GAC so I dont get the Opry at all anymore. its a real drag not being able to see my hero play but with you guys and gals keepin' me informed I will survive..

Sorry - this thread is intended to be a tribute to Tommy's exceptional talent! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to appreciate it on the Opry due to this audio anomaly.

I well remember the old topic where this came up - I contributed and claimed that I could hear the steel just fine! Now, since buying a DVD-player, a massive flat-screened TV, and a 5.1 home cinema set-up, I seem to have lost half of CMT's sound-track. No, it isn't apparent on other channels, so I'm mystified!

Well played, Tommy - you sure looked good, anyway!
