Keep an eye on ebay.....or actually, keep watching ebay (don't want to take me literally). The Alkire A Harps are 10 string and the MOT (mother of toilet seat) modals are the cheapest I believe.

Howard, it's actually Alkire E-Harp, but pronounced A-Harp. AY!

Hey Giorgio,
I think you need to find a pedal steel (probably on eBay) that lacks pedals and knees. I see you moving that direction, and that would be the way to get half-way there and have fun at the same time.
Just a thought.

Thanks all,

Stephan: I like that instruments; I'll get info for prices

Charlie: how are you?
Yes probably you are right that a pedal would be more interesting ... the problem is that simply a student pedal steel is very very expensive for my busget ... a big percentage of extracosts come from the shipping in Italy ... it's a nighmare to import a heavy box in Italy cause costs of transports .. customs ... etc.

So if any of you like to sell a pedal (or not pedal) please get info about how mutch cost the freight.

HowardR:
lesson of Italian language :
"Piazza Della Repubblica" not "Piazza de Repubblica"
and note that every big town in Italy have a "Republic's Place" in his center because ... if USA is a democratic union ... Italy is a stae based on a republic ... mmhhh ... maybe ...
I'm joking

Hello Giorgio,

I know what you mean; for me it was a really cheap steel or a good lap, and I went for the Dynalap. Mark Vinbury has new 8-string models; my 6 has a great voice, and I love it. You can find his edress in his post under my 'Dynalap' topic.

But I know, you want those wierd strings at the top, right? Keep putting the word out, and some fool or wise man on the forum will offer you a slightly dysfunctional steel that will give you the range; pedals and knees can come later. Remember, your Artisan will sell in Italy, rare as steels are there.

Maybe contact Farris Currie; he may know of a basket case that would work.

By the way, the US is actually a republic, where government is done by elected officials, not by the people themselves.
(Ben Franklin called the new nation 'a republic.') Can't think of any true democracies, except for the Forum. I guess we're all in the same boat. And it's getting rocky!

Good luck, and I'll keep my eye open.
