Does anyone know who played Dobro on this? I think I heard one time that it was Tom T. Hall and that he was just messing around with it in the studio and it sounded so unique they left on the tape. I don't think he was really a Dobro player. Also what tuning would it be. It sure ain't no G Maj.
Thanks, Don.

There is only one musician's credit on the lp. It says something along the lines of "dobro pickin' by Jerry Kennedy".

I'm pretty sure it is played Spanish style -like a standard guitar - as opposed to lap style.

His great dobro licks are all over the album, and he is on some Statler Brothers albums too.

If you like that style, check out "Good Deal! Doc Watson in Nashville" which has Grady Martin on Spanish style dobro dueling with Shot Jackson on ShoBro on a couple of cuts.

I am not sure who played the dobro part on Harper Valley P.T.A., but it was definately played spanish style. I worked with Jeannie in the mid 90's and she brought the resonator guitar it was played on along on one of our road trips once. I can't remember if it was a National or a Dobro, but it was a round neck with a metal body. It was set up with light guaged strings and low action.

Well I'll be...All these years I've listened to that, it never occurred to me that it wasn't a dobro played with a bar. No wonder I never could get it right. Dang guitar players anyhow!!
