Okay, I was looking at the ads on ebay and stumpled across this album with Lloyd Green and J. B. Van. I have been opening up my steel case for the last 12 years (sho-bud super pro serial- 14599)looking at this name stenciled on the inside of my case "J.B.Van".
Just curious, was he a session player, road player etc...Does anybody remember him playing a green super-pro? just very curious. Thanks.... |

I knew J.B. Van in Pasadena, Texas in the late 70's. I was playing in the house band at Gilley's Club and he was playing in Mickey Gilley's road band. I don't think he had the green Super-Pro at that time. He must have gotten it later. I heard that J.B. passed away a year or so ago. He was a swell guy and a very good steel player.

J.B. and Lloyd Green years ago cut an all Gospel Album titled " The Celestial Sounds of The Steel Guitar."
Yes, he was Micky Gilley's steel player.
