The Gibson hinges were completely torn off the top. This case is thicker than what I have been used to seeing. First, I cut back to solid sections. Then I glued in cardboard curving it first. I used the solid kind, not boxing. I filled in gaps on both sides little by little. Then, thinned out the glue and wrapped the patches with some muslin extending out 1/4" onto good areas. I gave this two more coats of unthinned glue. Drilled new holes backing it up with a block of wood. I could have used small nut/bolts, but I have solid aluminum rivets in the shop. I put a strip of sheet aluminum inside with the rivets going thru. A little tan paint to match, and good as new. I am keeping this BR-4 so I took the time to fix it.
