I hadn't played my steel for about a year and when I got back to it the other day I noticed that the pot in my Goodrich 10K pedal was making noise when I moved the volume up and down. The pedal hasn't had much use and is only 4 years old. Can they go bad just sitting around? Any possible cures other than replacing the pot?
Thanks, Chuck |

Yes the pot can get a dead spot(scratchy spot) in it from sitting or playing..ha...and I have had success by dripping some 3&1 oil or spray lubricant on the pot and working it back and forth. If that don't do it ...then yes, replace the pot.

Are you sure it is L10K? I wouldn't expect that to sound scratchy. Check to see if the pedal motion is hitting and moving a wire. |

It is an H-10K. I changed the battery in it but it was still making noise. After playing about 1/2 hour the amount of "scratch" has dropped to almost nothing. The pot is sealed so I couldn't get any lubricant into it anyway. Thanks for the advice. [This message was edited by Chuck Martin on 25 April 2004 at 08:47 PM.] |

The pot is a sealed pot so they say...>BUT lubricant WILL go in there...and probably the more you work it the more it may go away...

I'm still having trouble with this pedal. It makes a popping noise when I back all the way off and then start to add volume. Despite the fact that its had very low use I'm probably going to have to send it back to Goodrich for repair. Anyone know their website?
Thanks, Chuck |

Chuck, Goodrich doesn't have a web site but their number is 231-893-5702. Ask for Ollie. |
