I am very new to steel playing. I have a Peavey Classic 50 with 4 10 in. speakers. Could someone tell me if that will be a workable amp. I have just ordered an Emmons Lashley Legrande lll and I want a good amp. Help please.

It will probably sound fine unless you try to play with a loud band. In that case you might need a more powerful amp to avoid a distorted sound.

The Classic 50/410 will work for steel guitar. This is the same amplifier that I set up Curly Chalker with before he passed away. However, he chose the 2-12" versions.
But, Curly also told me that he really preferred playing at a low volumes. As Ernest said, if you play low volumes, the Classic 50 will work.

I suggest the Peavey Nashville 1000 for maximum headroom. Check the Nashville 1000 amplifier on the Peavey website. The address is: www.peavey.com

Thanks.
