I just acquired a Profex II with no manual or card( Newman settings already programed, and I assume I don't really need one to play...correct?). Anyway, I have a Webb with preamp out- power amp in, and an older Evans without those features. Can I use these amps stereo going thru the Evans preamp stage?
Also...can I use the Profex mono?
Thanks SW[This message was edited by Steven Welborn on 07 February 2000 at 01:58 PM.] |

If you want stereo or two separate channels, just run the guitar to the volume pedal from the volume pedal to the Profex II input. Run the mono/left to one amp POWER AMP IN the right channel to the other amp POWER AMP IN. The Profex II becomes the preamp/EQ and you bypass the preamp/eq's on the amps.
If you just want to run one amp or mono, then just come out of the mono/left output of the Profex II to one amp's power amp in.
You can run the unit through the amp's preamp or even in the effects loop, but since you already have the preamp/eq in the Profex II - and all of Newman's programs are set up to work that way - why not use it??
As far as the other method you asked about, running into one amp and then out of the preamp out on that amp to another amp - that's still only mono. If you want to run two amps, use both channels or "stereo".
Jeff Newman sells a video on the Profex II and programming it. I don't know if Peavey still has manuals available for that unit or not. Contact Mike Brown at Peavey and he will know. The last number I have for Mike is 1-800-821-2279, I'm not sure if it's still good.

Jack, what I meant was, the Evans does not have the poweramp-in feature (older amp), therefore for the stereo setup, I can go into the Webb poweramp-in (one channel), but can only go into the Evans via preamp(2nd channel).
But it sounds like I am able to do that according to the info you've givin. I'll give it a try. And thanks for the responses.
