This instrument was built from existing Emmons parts as an open-string non-pedal guitar. The end plates and tuning brackets have been professionally glass beaded and polished as new. A new cabinet was constructed from 1/2 inch maple, then capped with 1/16 inch curly maple. The same was carried out on the fingerboard. The perimeters were inlaid with decorative inlays of rosewood, maple, and ebony. Fret positions are playing card suit emblems in red and black. The volume and tone control pots were replaced and new golden amber knobs added, which look great with the golden maple finish. The pickup (original) and controls sit on top of nice tortise shell plates. Underneath the cabinet, two cross braces were added for strength.
The case is built from 1/2 inch poplar with 1/4 inch birch plywood top and bottom; covered with tweed cloth giving a nice 40's look. The hardware (brass) includes six drawbars (snaps), black handle, corner protectors, and ball standoffs for bottom. The inside is covered with dark maroon crushed velvet with 1 inch foam padding in top. The guitar rests on two endblocks. A divider board gives ample room to store the legs.
I am asking $750 for this guitar and the buyer pays actual shipping.
