Hi Jack,
Stranger On The Shore is an instrumental made famous by clarinetist Acker Bilk. You would find it on any collection of his music, as it was his best known tune.
It was written in Bb, and people are famous for screwing up the chords. Here they are:

|Bb |C- F7 |Bb Bb7|Eb Eb- |
|Bb |C |C- |F7 |
|Bb |C- F7 |Bb Bb7 |Eb Eb- |
|Bb |D- G- |C- F7 |Bb Bb7 |
Bridge
|Eb |Bb |C- F7 |Bb Bb7 |
|Eb |D- |C |F7 |

|Bb |C- F7 |Bb Bb7 |Eb Eb- |
|Bb |D- G- |C- F7 |Bb (F7)|

Thar she blows. Funny, I had to play this tune, by request last night, while backing up a clarinet player.
The schmaltz factor is fairly high on this tune - always gets them up dancin'. Probably an excellent steel tune!
Pick 'er, Jack

Hi John
Thanks very much for posting those chords . I'd be one of those guys in the screw it up bracket
I went to see Mr Bilk about three years ago . Of course all of his playing was superb , but that tune was the highlight of the night for me .
Thanks ,
Ingo.

Actually I own the sheet music piano/6 string guit chords.

Music is by Acker Bilk, Words by Robert Mellin

EMI Music Publishing LTd. Ive had it for years.

Why do I have it? I play clarinet and I play steel and not necessarily in that order either.

I know the song because when I was a kid the a clarinetist (cant remember his name) used to play it Lawrence Welk show often. In fact , remember Buddy Merril, he was the guitarist.

If you cant find it , call up Byron Hoyt Music Company (distributor of sheet music and scores) in San Francisco ( I think the are online too) you can inquire by email. Or try www.jumpmusic.com and you can order online as well. I have before. At Byron Hoyt you can find also complete scores and music arrangements for larger music groups all the way up to symphony.

Good choice.

Rick Barber Carter D10, Clarinetist

Tony, the key to getting the tab aligned is to present it in a non-proportional spaced font, like Courier. It's impossible to get proper alignment in a proportional font.

I 2nd that emotion. I tried dumping the whole thing into MS Word (changing the font to a proportional one) but it was still unreadable. Anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks Bill..I'm not real up on computers..I'll try to get my daughter to sort me out.

Hey Ingo..you just saved me from looking total stupid...it took me over an hour including losing twice when the phone rang...and then it turned out squashed...I knew you could do tab and was going to ask if you could e-mail me sometime to tell me where I was wrong but you fixed it before I got chance. If you can still e-mail me and lay it out for "Dummies" I promise not to tell another Irish joke for...er...Two hours?
Thanks.....Tony

Jerry Byrd performed a version of "Stranger" on a 60's album... I gotta look it up in my Goldmark's - It is a great steel tune..
