Bob and all,
Here is some C6 jazz tab using the 8th (boowah)pedal, in which the 9th string lowers from F to Eb instead of the usual E.
Bob, I know your setup is different, I'll leave it to you to interpret the changes. What I've done here is written a chorus of
12 bar blues, showing chords that one might use to "comp" behind a soloist. These chords can also be incorporated into a solo, of course.
The grips are tough at first, but they'll come. I play with four picks. If you don't, you can always pluck the root first, then the chord right after. Bar 7 and 12 have roots written in as options.
The last 2 or 3 bars employ a A-Bb raise on the 4th string. If you don't have it, use the preceding voicings for the E,A,and D chords from the previous measures.
The top line are the chords as you might find them written in a fake book. The line underneath names the exact chords in the tab. L means lower, R means raise.

Thanks John, Now all I need is that double neck so I can give it a try. Hopefully I'll be getting one in May. Do you have any Blues ideas for the E9 neck?

Hi BobG,
I had intended this for Bob Grossman, actually; it's a continuation of the thread in the main forum about the C6 9th string, but thanks for reading anyway! This blues is more a "jazz blues" because of the chord progression, not really an Albert Collins/B.B. King kind of blues.
That's a great question though. Why don't you start a thread on E9th blues? I'd be glad to read that one. In the meantime, here's a simple E9 blues lick:
(for E9th)

G9
4---------------------------|repeat
5--8a-----8a-----8a-----8a--|ad nauseum
6--8b~~8------8--8b~~8------|
7---------8-------------8---|
8--8L-----8L-----8L-----8L--|
9---------------------------|
10--------------------------|

Wish I could do better. I haven't put too much time in on E9th blues, and I'm a greenhorn, so...
good thought though....
-John
