Looking for a resonator sounding pedal for psg. As a 10 piece band space is at a premium.
What effects pedal works best to achieve a resonator like sound.
Currently looking at a fishman jerry douglas but not sure if they work well with PSG?
ANY THOUGHTS OR OTHER OPTIONS? |

I was surprised that the Fishman JD actually sounded pretty nice. It is of course not how it is intended to be used but it does alter the steel's sound and it is musical.
The Bradshaw MXR box is far more powerful (as a simulator) and is a profound effect. A lot of bang for the buck. It will turn heads.
I find the Bradshaw to be a very ear-fatiguing sound that I would never use for more than the very occasional need on a gig that you really don't want to have to carry a resonator guitar to. It does a super job as long as you don't lose sight (hearing) of its limitations. |

I found (from reviews on SGF) that the cheap Danelectro Fish & Chips was the one...it is an EQ like the Boss, but much cheaper, and you actually WANT the less good one for this. And inside the Bobro is just a Boss EQ pedal with a label anyway...used Fish & Chips available for about $40...just set the sliders alternating top and bottom...

I used one like the one in Larry's ad here for several years. I really like it's sound. Yes, it's a modified EQ pedal but aren't they all just eq's?
The BoBro above has the presets so you never need to mess with them plus this one has the power supply included and Larry will do you right. |

Nothing like the real thing when it comes to a Do-Bro.
Some of the Do-Bro pedals at one time, Came with a Nylon bar. I bought a Boss GE-7 and I did not like it. I got a Nylon bar in a trade, To my ear it made a lot more realistic Do-Bro sound. |

| I've had them all, and to my ears the original Matchbro is still the closest. However, I hate the look of that big, clunky box hanging off my guitar, so I use a Fish & Chips on my pedal board. For the one or two times a night I use it, it's close enough. |
