Love my 7/8" Emmons stainless steel bar,... and it's heavier on the strings than my 15/16" chrome plated bar.

Mr. McGill, I did just that. I keep one BJS in my pac seat with my picks and cords for playing out, and one duplicate set of picks, bar & cords in my music room at home. That way I never forget to pack it up with the rest of my gear.

I've had a BJS bar since back in the 80's. It won't wear out. I've also dropped the bar on concrete and didn't put as much as a scratch on it. Can't say that for the Sho-Bud and Williams bars I have.

Like b0b, I bought a new one a couple of years ago and no difference between the new and old.

I bought a 7/8" "Twister" bar with both ends rounded, and it's seemingly indestructible with the abuse my son has given it. I like it, but would like to have on at least 1"...if not 1 1/4".

But my main playing bar is actually a 1 1/4" plexiglass bar. I like the large size, and it amazingly sounds like a steel bar....but it's really light and quick. It's not showing any signs of wear after several months of noodling around (while I was still building stuff onto my guitar) and a month or so of playing regularly.

I use a BJS 12 string bar. It feels comfortable and sounds nice.I also have a glass bar that I got from Bobbe and it sounds nice but is a bit thinner than 7/8 so it feels different. I have one of those bars with the a bullet nose on each end but it really feels strange holding it.

bOb, where did you get the Black Nick Manoloff bar?

Jim Sliff, there's no way that a plexiglass bar will sound like a steel bar. I use a plexiglass bar sometimes for its unique sound. If they really sound the same to you, your amp settings are obscuring your tone.

The closest thing to steel that I've heard is the zirconia bar. You can't get them anymore, but I'm lucky enough to have one. It has very long sustain and a slightly warmer timbre than a steel bar.

A.J.: I don't know much about how BJS bars are made, but mine shows no sign of wear. I don't think that they are chrome plated. I've dropped mine on concrete several times and the surface still looks like it did when I bought it.

Well, the "NEW" Cobra Coil bar is a "Lifetime" bar and guarenteed for life.
The only lifetime bar I know of.
Built using the hardest stainless steel alloy, ground and buffed to a perfect luster. The price is only $39.00, possibly the greatest value in a steel guitar bar ever offered. Compared to bars costing more than double this.
Order at 615 822 5555,,,,, 9:00 'til 4:00 central time.
