Dig this recording of Footie playing Pink Panther. He wrecked the house at the Second Sacred Steel Convention in Sanford. An unforgettable moment! Love that big Morley Rotary Wah.

Thanks Andy, I just ordered one. And BTW I bought your Steel Guitar book 7 or 8 years ago and have gone through it many times. It's Great! I'll be pulling it out again to read the interviews with the Sacred Steel players. _________________ http://www.combotone.com/ |

Hi,
Thanks for your kind comments folks. I have not kept up with the Sacred Steel scene in the last several years.
Forum member Del Grace has been producing a lot of gatherings for a few years now--check event announcements. Check Sacred Strings on YouTube, as well as his Web site.
I produced eight albums for Arhoolie Records (now owned by Smithsonian Folkways) and was involved in two or three compilations for other labels. And there is also the Sacred Steel doc. video DVD, for which I served as project director. All are available on Amazon, and elsewhere.
It is inspiring, soulful music. Documenting it and getting to know folks from the community was a great adventure and education for me.
Enjoy! |

Bob would never blow his own horn but he's done groundbreaking work in his career as a folklorist for the State of Florida.
Bob is the person who was most instrumental in first introducing the Sacred Steel community to the wider world at large and he has done magnificent work documenting the world of the Florida cowboys. Did you know their were cowboys in Florida?
