I had revisited a video of Curly Chalker playing San Antonio Rose and a certain camera angle has me wondering if he's using a larger than typical sized tone bar. At about 0:25 the camera angle changes, and the width of the bar just seems fatter for some reason. Not to mention his sound in the video is HUGE especially in the lower register of the guitar. Is this true? Do people with C6 necks play beefier bars to get a thicker sound? Or is that all Curly with the MSA?

Talk about tone! What a monster.

Here's the video I'm referring to:

Any input would be stellar.

It also look like he's got C6 on his front neck - or is he doing this on E9A?

His guitar was arranged with the neck tunings reversed, this configuration was generally referred to as the, "Chalker setup". If you happen to view some early episodes of 'Hee Haw', you may notice him most often using the rear neck when backing a guest singer.

It could be a 1" bar.
