Hey Karen, what amp are you using for your steel? How did you like the Quilter?

Thanks,

Hi,

Just curious about what you are replacing the quilter with?

I have a Steelaire Rackmount running into a 2-12 cab loaded with TT-12s

What's the output on these? I played through one in a store (very briefly) and loved the tone. I just don't know how they perform in a big room.

Well, the website says 200 watts into 4Ω. Of course, that doesn't mean diddley-squat unless you know the the sensitivity of the speaker. Says it is an Eminence 15"---those are generally pretty efficient--about 100 db/1w/1m. So that would put out 123 db SPL. Ouch!! PLENTY loud for just about any venue, I'd say. Date of manufacture puts it BEFORE the switch (~ 9/2015) to the much quieter OPA1654 opamps.

I have one of the first batch of production models and it is extremely quiet and I mean more so than my other amps. I would not let the date of manufacture deter you from purchasing this amp. Perhaps if you are into doing a lot of recording you could have a concern as you would with most other amps. I have played mine several times and never noticed anything objectionable coming from it, even at stage level volumes. I spoke to Chris at Quilter regarding the op-amps and was told that there was not that much of a difference when you put the amps side by side. I love my Quilter Steelaire and have used it in several venues and will continue to do so, great amp.

I have owned several pedal steel amps in the last 45 years. This my favorite. Very quiet also. Great amp. CLASSIC COUNTRY WILL NEVER DIE ! Rest in peace Mel Tills. Another of the greats is gone.

Topic drift? I probably started it with questions to Karen, but at this point, we're detracting from the original "for sale" post

the amp is very quiet. Its a wonderful amp and has been my main gigging amp since I've had it. I even preferred it to my modded 74 twin as it is more clear and precise sounding (and a lot lighter!!). when playing a gig I've often had to remind myself that it is not a tube amp because it feels and sounds extremely tube like. Most of the time I've used Brad black box with it which could have contributed to the warmth. It is also a nice amp for guitar. Lucky Oceans played thru this amp at the CT steel show (he borrowed it from me). I will see if I can find a clip of the video thats floating around. It sounded stellar ! Happy thanksgiving everyone and thanks for the interest in this amp

Karen I would dearly love to be the next owner of this amp. Only thing stopping that from happening is the lack of ?? It's green and a lot of folks fold it, I use to carry it in my right rear pocket. Oh yeah it was caled money. I think you still own this cuz oh so many of us are in the same boat I am in. Hang in there as 1 of us will come up with a way. A very happy holiday season to you. And may we all be thankful for what we do have. As Art

I played one for over a year and would still have it if i werent poor, lol. They have plenty power in any venue. They have two channels and you can select both thru one input which boost power quit a bit. Places i played i never needed the extra power. Kept my Telly in other channel and to switch, all you had to do was move knob to select channel. Great sounding amps for six string also. Telecasters really sound great thru them and turned on back pickup, remind me of the old Don Rich sound.

Thanks for info Karen. I sure miss Don Rich's playing. As i know Buck did also. When Don died so young it was truely sad and i believe. It darn near killed Buck. He lost a best friend, son to him, his. Singing partner and half of the BUCK OWENS sound. Thanks Art

Can sure tell how slow the market is now. Thsi amp should have sold in a couple of days. John Hughey's JCH didnt sell, the beautiful Show Pro 9/9 is still for sale. Lack of extra money has me strapped. Or I would two of the three
