| He was in KC this week, did a 3 hour workshop at a music store and played a gig that night (that would be a lot of bass work in a day!). I didn't get to see him but a friend did. Great musician. |

The Wooten family is an amazing musical family.
When they were younger, a record company was pushing them as the next Jackson Five, which didn't pan out.
Eldest brother, Regi, "The Teacher", is who taught Victor.
Regi was my main influece for pursuing the raised fretboard idea on pedal steel and using the tapping technique with it.
I used to go to "The Grapevine" in Nashville to hear Regi on guitar, Joseph (who has played keyboards with Steve Miller for many years), Raymond "Nasty" Massey on drums (he's worked for Pearl Drums for a long time), drummer, JD Blair (Shania Twain) sometimes filled in, Keith Horne (Tanya Tucker) on bass (he and Victor came from what they called "the bass pack", a group of amazing bass players from Newport News, Virginia), and sometimes a horn player, often Rod Makaha on trumpet)
