In the summer of 1984 I took the Jeff Newman seminar and he played a Fender 210. It sounded fine to me. I have no idea about any mechanical issues if there were any. Perhaps someone who has a 210 can comment. Stevet

You need to search the old forum. There were a few people that played them. It appears that only 15 were made and that Fender discontinued all pedal steels shortly after this guitar went into production.

In the summer of '84, I was only nine years old, but this sounds to me like one of those sentences where we could insert any steel instrument in there as Jeff could probably make anything sound great. I have always been curious about the Fender steels, esp. the ones Sho-Bud made.

The 210, PS-210, was all Fender. I believe it was only in 1972 catalog and was way ahead of it's time. Here are couple of links about it.

After watching the youtube demonstration, I have a whole new understanding of how everything works on the Fender PS-210. I wonder who designed this? Too bad they only made a few of them. I think I would like to have one. Thanks, Tommy.....

Gene Fields

I think the illustration videos in the first link [pedalsteeluk] are by forum member basilh who knows these instruments well.

Check out this thread...and check out Gene Fields' personal 210, with a fretted neck and built-in seat.
It way pretty outrageous in it's day, and most likely too hip for the room...
