I won't see it in my lifetime, but I wonder if in the foreseeable future this self-congratulatory epic will ever give way to something more earnest. Probably not, since there's too much money to be made from it.. Oh Well

Those space-age sunglasses sure aren't country.

It's a long time since awards were dished out on merit - it's all done for the benefit of the promoters.

I saw a children's talent show once where a truly brilliant young cellist was knocked out by a cute but indifferent vocalist, the the judges having been warned that cellos are boring to the average viewer but they'll stay tuned for a singer.

I’m mostly a half full guy,so I was happy to see Miranda, and her steel player had a great solo, and I loved the Brad and Carrie opening song,

The article seems to lament that the show did not get more political, and lacked a "message". While an acknowledgement and tribute to the various tragedies is appropriate, these shows SHOULD be about the music itself and those who preform it.

Just another of several reasons I stopped watching several years back.

This light hearted humor doesn't seem to be appropriate for the sad state the world is in. They should either be quiet or be explicit. If that's the point of the journalist I agree with him.

I agree. It's too middle-of-the-road for cool sunglasses.
