Goober and Jethro, Mekannikle Injinnears strike again: I recently got a Sho-Bud 6139 with two normal rod-to-pedal connectors...

...and this.

I guess my only inquiry is a question of three letters: WTF?

This oddball connector isn't spring-loaded and isn't adjustable...unless I'm supposed to unscrew it from the rod (first attempts not successful) to insert the ball end.

No--what I'll do is hit up McMaster-Carr Monday.

(Edit/update: actually PSG Parts. I'm getting three of them just in case of similar situations.)

Looks like an old piece of carburetor linkage. The small holes are for a cotter pin after you get the screw end tighten to where you need it. If you back the insert out a little--- you can insert the ball and then tighten it back up. Then you put in the cotter pin to keep it from moving. I have used many of them on old cars and boats.

I operate a 503 Fairbanks Morris oilfield pumping unit engine that has very similar ends on the governor to throttle butterfly rod. Someone must have substituted that in a pinch,
