I have just bought a PV 1x12 Special,that has a jack plug plugged into the effects send and return inputs on the front of the amp,is there a reason for this?

| Sometimes users experience noise due to issues in the effects circuit. Inserting a short cable and/or cleaning the input jacks often solves the problem. Try removing it and see if you hear crackling, static, etc. If not, leave the cable off. |

My Peavey Special 112 has no such problems.
I like the sound.

| I have a Peavey Special 150 and I was getting a crackling sound out of it. A tech figured out that it was dust in the return and send inputs for the effects loop. I would clean the input jacks, but the problem kept coming back. I never used the effects loop, so I put a small cable in both inputs and it solves the problem. Its a great sounding amp for a solid state amp. I use it as a guitar amp, but it also sounds good with a pedal steel. I've been using tube amps for quite sometime on guitar, and a Roland Cube 60 on pedal steel, but the Peavey Special 150 is a work horse, I would never sell it. |

Yeah, this small shielded cable simply closes that loop. You can do this with any Send and Return jacks and it hardwires the loop instead of relying on an internal switch on the return, in or power amp in jacks.
