Is there anybody using the Katana 100 watt head that has found a good speaker to pair with it?
I really like my 15 inch JBL 4 ohm that I use with a Fender bassman head but the Katana has an 8ohm output.
I ran it through my 12 inch EV that is in a guitar amp and did not care for the sound... a little to thin sounding. I'm running it through a Fender Concert amp with a 12 inch stock fender speaker from the 1980s and like it the best so far. I am thinking the solid state head will work better with a warmer/rounder sounding speaker. |

I own the Katana head and play it with the following:
15" Big Ben Emmeince speaker ( open back cab)
12" Tweaker Cab closed back.
Both of these work well for me,
I play a Rittenberry SD 10, a West Coast 8 string lap steel.
The Kat head produces a lot of low end. And its more than loud! _________________ Guitars: Rittenberry SD S-10, Gretsch Black Falcon. Effects: Wampler Paisley, Strymon Timeline, Sarno Earth Drive.

Have either one of you guys with the Katana head played your steel/guitar through the 5" speaker in the head?
How's that sound? _________________ Four Pettingills and a Clinesmith Aluminum. Fender Blues Junior. Quilter Mini-101. |

Thanks for the good info Steve!
Stephen, I have used the built in speaker for practice and exploring the different sounds and effects and it's surprisingly good for a 5" speaker.
Anyone using the software to tweak sounds?
I have a mac and it loaded ok but having problems with it recognizing the USB connection with the amp.
Time to contact Roland/ Boss i guess! |
