Interesting review in Guitar Player Magazine of Chris Hillman's new album "Bidin' My Time" which will be out Sep 22, 2017. Guest artists include Herb Pederson, John Jorgenson, and Jay Dee Maness from Chris' time in the Desert Rose Band, and Roger McGuinn and David Crosby from Chris' years with the Byrds. The article doesn't say how many tracks Jay Dee plays steel on but this could be worth keeping an eye out for.

That's very interesting, can't wait! I love Chris and the California crew.
The only problem I have with him is, that, he never keeps a good sounding band together for a long time. I really enjoyed the Desert Rose Band and was waiting for something new, but, it never happened.
As a side note, I met him in 66' when, my band opened for the Byrds at a big RxR club. He was super shy to say the least. He faced his amp instead of facing the crowd when he was onstage playing. Surely didn't talk much.

I love everything Chris has done musically but sadly Jay Dee only plays on one track. It is a fine CD and the track with Petty is good to hear.

Chris had an album out a year or two before the Desert Rose Band began called "Desert Rose" The whole album sounded a lot like the DRB and Jay Dee was all over it... My favorite tune is the title track "Desert Rose"... If it's still available it'd be a great addition to your collection(s)...JH in Va.

It's available here on Amazon, Ken. For steel lovers like myself it was a little disappointing for a general lack of steel
