Fourmites,

DOES ANYONE HVE A TELEPHONE NUMBER I CAN USE TO TELEPHONE PAYPAL SECURITY FROM OUTSIDE THE USA

I AM IN CHINA NOT USA SO I NEED THE INTERNATIONAL NUMBER

On October 7th I had my Paypal account blocked due to "suspicious activity"

i was given a site to contact by Paypal and tried to use it to resolve the issue but when I use my password, Paypal does not even allow me to go in and explain the problem.

I'd like to contact them by telephone but could not find that telephone number

Thanks,
Stevet

Steve, I can't find a phone number for Security on their website, but this is the Customer Service number to use from outside the US. Hopefully they can either help you or direct you to the right place. Good luck.

1-402-935-2050 (if calling from outside the U.S.)

Steve,

I hope you didn't use the link in the e-mail you received.
Be aware it may be a scam to get your Paypal password.

Just in case it was,I would log into your PayPal account via your browser & change your password right now...

Sorry to be an alarmist but these days you can't be too careful.

Jim and Peter,
Thanks for your taking the time to help. . I was going to call Paypal today but thought I would try getting into my account with my old password and it worked.I could see all my transactions for the last half year. I also sent a friend $2.00 and the transaction showed up as a debit in my account.

This was a spoof email, no doubt, and I DID NOT click on the links your suggested, Peter.

Hereis the offending email. Hah, I don't' even have a Windows device:

You said above you tried your password to try to resolve and it did not work. You should change your password at the real Paypal site.

Steve, you had best change your password ASAP. I had the same scam happen to me a few years ago. Luckily I caught on after I saw a $50 purchase that I didn't make.

Fortunately Paypal was able to trace the perp...some 15 year old kid....and nail his a$$. My money was replaced and all was well again.

I changed my password to a highly secure phrase...I suggest you do the same.

I get these all the time..

I just forward ALL of them straight to "spoof@paypal.com"

Don't reply OR click on ANYTHING

...and yes, change your password!

..but send it to us first, so we can check that you've got it right... Laughing

Those emails are usually simple to identify. The actual sender email address may show as a secure address but if you examine it closer it's almost always not secure - which is never from PayPal.

They also contact you by mail if there is suspected fraud , plus your account is immediately locked so you can't use it.

They also know how to spell the company name in *real* emails - and it's NOT Pay-Pal, or Pay Pal, or Paypal. One word, both "P"'s capitalized.

ANYTHINGof those emails are not worth looking at, and they've been sent millions of them via the "spoof@..." email address - not worth wasting your time.

Just delete them immediately.
