I like the Sierra & MSA, in that order. I had some Sho~Buds & a Dekley, but that was before I knew... _________________ Steel Guitar players are members of a Special Family |

Boy you guys are lucky! I have only ever owned one and have never played any other. So.. I'm going to say my 1976 Sho-Bud pro II, it sounds like a pedal steel to me. _________________ You are me as I am you |

remember the only set of ears that matter is the ones on the man playing a given brand at the time No matter what any one sayes the only one that matters is your ears No 2 ears hear the same so I would listen to m,y self in this case just try some at your amp settings and go from there. |

I haven't owned as many as others here. But, out of what I have owned over the years... I would say;
1. Marlen
2. Sho Bud
3. MSA
4. Dekley
5. Sierra |

Some would say I don't know any better because I have little to compare it to, but I love my '77 Emmons fatback.... _________________ Red Emmons D10 fatback #2246D with sweet Hugh Briley split cases, Black Emmons S10 #1466S, '73 Fender "Snakeskin" Twin Reverb, Peavey Nashville 400, Line 6 Pod XT, Fender 400, Fender Stringmaster Double-8, too many guitars, one bass! |

I like gfi for good sound (not the best) but lightweight.
For best sound I am old fashioned and like Sho-Buds and the Fender cable guitars. Both of which are heavy.
To me the Fender 8 string cable guitars, although limited and heavy, are heaven to which nothing compares.

My Derby has an excellent sound. As far as comparing to others , I have only played a few different ones but My derby is the one where I learned to squeeze out the tone.
Lots of compliments from others on my tone. |
