Just taking a moment to worry about our members in the path of the storm. Stay safe, don't take chances, and hope things work out for you!

I've been following Irma on the Weather Channel. I can't imagine going through that. I hope everyone stays safe.

I'm in the "direct line of fire" as of the latest forecast. Inverness (Citrus Co) is on the west coast side about 60 miles north of Tampa. Latest track predicts it will still be Cat 3 when it passes over us sometime Sunday night/Monday morning.

You folks that I see on here that lives in Florida our prayers are for you, this lady sounds like she has a big punch and doesn't care who you are so take cover pray and don't try to be a John Wayne or Clint Eastwood. I'd like to see all of you on here again even though I've never met any of you I always enjoy reading your posts and please check in with the Forum after she passes.

I flew in from Austin to be with my elderly parents who live in Port Charlotte. The eye of the hurricane will be passing over us Sunday evening. 'Saying a prayer for Roger Retig in Naples.

Bro Jack, and all Fl & Ga folks, Prayers for all. We are on the edge and are said to get storms and heavy rain, getting prepped anyway.

Got a little place in Zephyrhills that I don't really want to lose but at least we're safe up here in Nova Scotia. Everybody in Florida stay safe.
Just found out that we came through the hurricane without a scratch so I guess it's back to Zephyrhills for the winter.

Hope everybody came out ok with nobody hurt and with little property damage.

We have a place in N Fort Myers and learned that a portion of its roof sustained damage. How much we just don't know at this time. Heading down there on Thursday prepared for no power, water, food, gas, etc.

After the storm has passed, an initial thought of mine has been, "Thank goodness for the stringent construction requirements that have been in place in FLA for many years." Never was a big fan of them in the past. Now, I see I was way, way wrong about them. So many newer buildings and installations survived pretty darn well because of that. Yes, of course, there was a lot of damage to others, like our place, but this should serve as an example for other states.

I'm Back. No damage from Irma, but we lost power about 1AM Monday and just got it back about 4PM today (Tuesday). We are fortunate as many others are still without power.

I was there when Andrew passed over - being in the eye of a category 5 is a life-changing thing, really. Everyone should do it - ONCE is enough. I was living in a 1930's "cracker house" made with the resinous "Georgia pine" that kills saw blades. It was the newest, biggest McMansions that exploded due to contractors, green wood with 2/3 of the nails and clamps missing.... I'm glad they got SERIOUS about that.

I know how weird it can get - 10 days no electricity, beautiful bright cloudless 90 degree weather. Water was the real problem, undrinkable for 31 days, if you hosed down, all your little cuts and scrapes could get nasty. I'm very very glad I was younger. For the most part, the people were wonderful, just GET THROUGH IT. Smile Smile And South Florida has a secret blessing, it's still basically a giant coral reef - GOOD drainage. When are... well it doesn't MATTER what's causing the ocean's rise, we really really DO need to stop futzing around and move ALL our coastal cites 50 miles inland. Like, yeah, turn off the water while you brush your teeth... Shocked

Anyone know how Roger's doing in Naples?
That is unless he's off on one of his tours.

We have a big palm tree on the roof. Other than that, all ok.
