On a power head with a single speaker output and using two cabs, how does one get the little delay effect between speakers like you would have with a ProFex, TransTubeFex and the like that have two speaker outputs?

Thanks, JimE

Not possible.
The only somewhat "stereo like" effect you can get with two speakers connected to one (mono) amp, is the "spread" of having one speaker phased 180 degrees relative to the other.

Well. I guess that takes care of that idea. I was hoping to get a little delay between them. Thanks.

To add to this even if you did have a stereo amp and two speakers not every delay is TRUE STEREO.

A mono IN to stereo OUT is a synthesized "stereo" effect and was done this way by pedal makers to cut costs as it involved TWO CIRCUITS in each pedal where TRUE STEREO is TWO INPUTS AND TWO OUTPUTS!

With lower costs of parts these days a true stereo delay is more common.

Also if you performed with a stereo rig on stage only you will hear that stereo effect not the rest of the band.

And unless your stereo signal goes to the FOH (PA) as well, and there again it will be YMMV, the listener has to be in between the two speakers in the sweet spot to sense the effect.

Another parameter in using stereo for live situations is the type of speaker system.

Most today use arrays which were designed to cover the listening area with reflected sound vs direct beamed sound as was common in the days before flying (suspended over the audience) arrays.

Since TRUE STEREO delay is two circuits/units going at the same time you can also use two MONO DELAYS in a stereo set up as U2's The Edge does.

BUT you would only need to get an extra amp to get a delay effect you desire making the extra amp the "wet" (delay) side while your main amp is the "dry."

Thanks Godfrey. That was a 1800cc Honda VTX.

I have sized down to a 1300cc Honda VTX because of age(74).
