Early 80's MSA Vintage XL universal tuning E9/B6 12 string. Only 4 of these were ever made. These were to be the new MSA model, designed by Bud Carter right before MSA went out of business, early 80's.
2 of them were sold and Maurice Anderson kept 2 of them. This is one of the ones Maurice had. I still have the emails from Maurice verifying this.

This guitar is rock solid, pedals hold their tuning like you wouldn't believe. I did a ton of gigs where I threw it up onstage, tuned the open strings and away we go.
Has a George L pickup but I will include the original SuperSustain pickup.
I bought the guitar in 2006. Before that, it basically sat in it's case for 20-some odd years unplayed.

However, I played the living s**t out of it. I literally did hundreds of gigs with it. So its got it's share of scratches, finish checking, dings etc. It's been in a ton of smoky, beery, whiskey-soaked honky tonks, outdoor festivals, 3 Terlingua Chili Cookoffs, evenings I can't remember and more. There are NO structural issues whatsoever.

I love this guitar very much but I just don't play steel anymore. I'd like to sell it to someone who does. I feel bad that it just sits in the closet.

I will include a bunch of steel bars, including a BJS bar which is the nicest bar I've ever used, as well as a Hilton pedal..

Pic upload is giving me hell, so I will try and upload some a little later.

Any questions hit me up 214-734-3137

Couple things I forgot to mention. Ideally, I would like to sell this locally, or meet up within a reasonable distance. However, if I have to ship, you would need to pay the shipping costs. This thing is heavy so I cant even imagine.
Im sure I'm forgetting something so I will update as necessary.

I have the other one that Maurice kept. I did a total restoration a couple of years ago.

Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

Oh wow....very cool! You did a great job on that. Did you do the sunburst on it?
Was this the one Reece was playing on the cover of steel guitarist magazine which was originally green?

This one was this color when it was built. The picture was taken at ISGC sometime in the '80s. He also recorded his "Universal Direction" album with this guitar, and used it in the "On The Road Again" movie and on the TV show "Dallas". I bought it from Reece about 7 or 8 years ago and didn't do anything with it until a couple of years ago. I set it up with a Bb6th tuning mainly because that's what it originally had. I don't play it, but someday I'll see if I can make some sense of the tuning.

Thats really cool. I love the Universal tuning, but never tried the Bb. Most of what I was doing was E9, so that was the predominant tuning.

I should also mention that I am 6'5", so this guitar is set up a couple inches over height.

The copedant on this is Jeff Newman's Universal. The ABC were originally set up as Jimmy Day, but I changed it to standard Emmons.
