Man I can listen to that for hours on end. I was there and that was my first time to see Hal Rugg play. His country just sends chills down my spine. |

Isn't that the truth Paul. First one I went to was 93 I think and Hal played a lot of Loretta stuff.I wasn't even playing steel in 81 but I always loved Hal's playing with Loretta. Hal was the man and such a nice down to earth guy, gone way to soon. _________________ Henry Matthews

I was blessed to have seen Hal Rugg play at several steel shows. The last time he played the Texas show was wonderful. He had three of his friends help him play the set. I cannot tell you how much the crowd was in awe. That being said, we have lost so many great players who set the bar extremely high. A few years ago I could go to the Texas show on a Saturday night and see Rugg, Emmons, Hughey, Day, Newman and even more and for $25. Now all of those men gave passed on. Players like these men sure left us wanting more. |

Doug, thanks for bringing this post back. I just wish I had brought more tape to the show ... |

Thanks Frank, I've enjoyed hearing this. I watched him playing at Gerry Hogan's festival back in the nineties. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |
