Topic: 3 rd string isn't as loud as the other strings |

I have a GFI SM 10 I have just installed a 11 gauge string to replace the 3 rd string G# because it had hardly any volume. All of the other strings had plenty of volume. My pickup is 2 quarters stack together from the string . Any body have any idea what my problem is? [besides my wife]

| Groove in finger? Is the volume the same unplugged? if not, it's not electrical, its almost always lack of string vibration, due to finger grooves. |

How old is the guitar?
The third string often cuts grooves in the finger, which will deaden vibration. Try moving it slightly to one side or the other and see if it gets better.

Some guitars that don't resonate evenly have that weak 3st problem. I had an early Carter like that.

I recommend going with a .012 gauge Live Steel string.
I used to avoid the 3rd string as much as I could because of the problem you are experiencing. I never could get the tone out of that high, thin string.
But since I started using the Live Steel strings I get a much better tone, richer and fuller.  |

i raised the pickup to just 1 quarter from the string which has helped. Good enough . I also tuned the E 's with the A & B peddles down. Problem solved. Thanks to all Jerry
