Doug Beaumier's lap steel book(s) probably have a lot of stuff you could play on 6 strings. His arrangements are great, too!

Cool Cool

Hi Frank, welcome to the steel guitar forum! Yes, I have some Song Books with CDs for C6 lap steel guitar. All of the info is on my web site ---> http://playsteelguitar.com

I suggest starting with the "25 Songs" book, and start with the slower songs that have few or no bar slants. The songs are mix of standards, country, hawaiian, etc., mostly intermediate level, tablature with notes.

Doug, I purchased that book some time ago. Have learned several songs from it, like your method really well. I am sitting in on a jam session 2x's monthly and they sing a lot of the old songs from the 50's. Can you do tabs for songs like Waltz Across Texas, Making Believe, Silver Wings and others that fall in this category. There doesn't seem to be much out there and I am not into Hawaiian music. I'm in need of the old time country songs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Frank (You can email me at irw44@hotmail.com)

I don't know of any books of classic Country songs on C6 lap steel, but you might find something you like listed here ---> http://www.planetgaa.com/C6/C6Resources.html

For sure go to Greg Cutshaws site in the C6 section.

Bouquet of Roses and There'll Be No Tear Drops Tonight are top notch.

Also, Dewitt Scott put out a C6 songbook in addition to his basic instruction book. I recommend it highly. His basic instruction book has some good tunes also. Great Speckled Bird and Saint Louis Blues are good in that book.

I don't know Dick Meis' telephone number or how to get in contact with him, but he had some courses and songbooks that had non-pedal "country" songs and lots of the older stuff when he had a web site.

Maybe someone from Denver could chime in with dicks contact info so you could see if any of Dicks material is still available.

Cool Cool
