Anyone have any experience with the new China built 112? I just purchased one and not sure I like it at all. My old one was pretty good, but I can't seem to dial this one in. I am back to using my Twin, but it kills my back.

I don't have any problems with the amp being made in China.

I understand the new 112 made in china has the Chips soldered in , not plug in like the old 112 USA made, The newer chips will be a pain to change out if that's the case.

Bob, if I am not mistaken, the later USA made 112's also had soldered. I remember Ken Fox saying his mod would not work on those. I don't really understand why anyone would want to change them anyway. I like a STOCK Nashville 112 and have been told over and over how great my sound was.

I did an A/B test with my original USA made 112 and one of the new ones. In a prototype test, I did not like the new amp. Hartley Peavey agreed with me. So Peavey kept my 112 for several months and disected the new prototype 112, so that corrections could be made before they went into production.
To me the new China made 112 sounds every bit as good as my original 112. The only thing I did not like was there was no covering over the reverb pan (and that is being looked into) and for me, I don't like the "chickenhead" knobs, but that is just the OLD fashioned part of me.

I only saw one USA with all the preamp chips soldered in, not all of them after a certain time period!

Recently I was sent a picture of a Cninese 112 preamp and the chips were soldered in. Not sure if all are that way but I bet they are. Cuts cost and prevents the user from upgrading the amps preamp chips the the Burr Brown chips.

The bottom line is the new Peavey amps sound great and work flawlessly. People I have sold the new 112's and the new 115's provide me with a very positive feedback. They are all very happy with their new Peavey purchases.

Both the 112's and the 115's are in stock this week. I also have the extension cabinet for the 115.

Peavey instructed the Chinese exactly how to make it and specified certain transistors, resistors etc. to be used so it would be identical in all specs to the USA models.

The upgrade chips Ken was selling made the amp cleaner across the board. Some might hear it, some might not, mileage may vary. For me chips ahoooaaa.

I for one would like to know. Why is it, everything has to be made in China, don't we have working people here. I believe in trade, but somewhere it has got to have a limit. Peavey made great things HERE, why did they go to China? If for no other reason, I'll not buy another Peavey thing.

Jim, I agree with you except.

We the American people wanted to be able to buy things cheaper and cheaper.

The cost of American labor had gotten too high to achive this.

The cost of doing business in America has way too many regulations and taxes.

The parts for electronics came from China anyway.

It is very sad and hopefully someday in the future, manufacturing of many different products will come back to the states.

You say won't buy another Peavey product because they are made in China. Then what will you buy. Everything is made in China. Just look at the labels closely.

I will continue to support and promote the great people left at Peavey. This is one of the few companies where you can talk to a real person for about any Peavey product. Heck if you need service, you can even talk to the person that will be repairing your product. Try that somewhere else.

I mostly agree with Bill, except the price for many Chinese produced electronics has gone up instead of down. Cheaper production costs are not reflected in the list price of many goods and I'm not specifically pointing this at Peavey.

Components are made all over the world, not just China. Regardless of where its made they get components from all over.

There are some US made products. My Carvin BX500 was made in the US (and the price is less than similar units from others that are not US made). I have an MOTU 896Mk3 Hybrid USB recording interface unit for my home recording studio and it too is US made.

I haven't physically inspected a new NV112 with surface mounted components to see if the IC's can be "safely" removed and replaced with sockets so the OPA2134's could be used. I recently bought an SMT station for unsoldering and soldering SMT components. Its a cheap station but looks like it would work.

Yes, the people at Peavey are some of the finest. I remember Tucker, the man they tried to jail, and built the Tucker car, saying, We will be buying our product from our enemies. Unions have destroyed the jobs here. I know I'll get flax from that too. Everyone wants higher wages, then they do as little as they can. I have been in the work force a long time and have seen it. And your right, where are you going to buy if not from China, we found that out from Walmart. Almost everything I own is from Peavey, and didn't realize the new one was made in China, it just hit me wrong. I just got a new Katana to ease my mind. It does not compare to the Nashville 112, my opinion only.

I agree with Jack that the cost to the manufacturer of building goods in China has brought the manufacturer's cost way down. In many cases, however this has served to increase the manufacturer's profit, not reduce the street price to the consumer.

Yes Greg, I agree with him too. I guess the bad part is, we have all the automobiles and they have all the parking places. hahaha. I know we have some of the best people at Peavey, Kevin for one, and they made some of the best there is. Only having the Katana a little over a week, I can only say, It can't replace the 112 made here in America.

I have a son who has lived and owned a business in Shenzhen China for 12 years. The city is directly across the river from Hong Kong. Ever heard of it? Well, it has a population of "only" 8 million which, when you think about it, is near that of Chicago's metropolitan area. China is huge, both in area and population.

Anyway, I went and visited him and he took me one day to the electronics marketplace area of the city. Blocks and blocks of stores and multi-stories buildings with, often, 2-300 stores in just one building. It was an eye-opening day that left me speechless. And that's just one area of one city in a huge country.

The point is, just about EVERYTHING is made in China, from the tiniest electronic capacitor to the camera lens on your smartphone to, well, again, everything else.

It's all about costs and money. There's simply no practical way US businesses can compete and sell without considering and choosing China (or Mexico or Asia) as a source for their products' parts and/or assembly. I am positive many business owners have many sleepless nights before making that hard decision. But it's either that or lay off your employees and eventually go out of business. This is basic Business 101 and a hard course at that.

One thing I wish Peavey did with the new 112 is put the power switch on the front. Its kind of annoying to have it on the back.
