This Tonemaster is in a pawn shop in Halifax for $600. There is no Oahu on the name. It almost looks like a National body colour. Is it an orphan brand????

Yup, Valco. It's not an Oahu Tonemaster; this was a brand name used by English Electronics of Lansing, MI on the guitars they sold.

I've owned very similar National and Supro steels.

These sound nice, but I think 600 bucks is a bit on the high side.

Lots of these National/Supro steels were jobbed out, and have other brands on the peghead depending on who was the retailer.

Looks like it is in better than average shape. Judging by the ones I have seen.
$600 CD = about $470 USD

That's not too bad, then. I guess I didn't consider the exchange rate.
