That sounds like someone who doesn't know what s/he has. I'd ask for the serial number and send it to Mike Brown. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

The "Session" 400 was never a tube amp that I can find. I've seen ads from some music stores that call the Session 400 a "Session 400 Combo".
There were two models of the Session 400, the original that has discrete components (e.g. transistors) in the preamp and the later (reissued) Session 400 LTD that has IC Op-Amps in the preamp. _________________ GFI Ultra Keyless S-10 with pad (Black of course) TB202 amp, Hilton VP, Steelers Choice sidekick seat, SIT Strings

They spelled out Limited in the later amp, the amp with LTD on it was the early amp. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Yeah, I had one of those later models. I should have known.
Sad part when I tried to sell it, around 2000, there was no market for them and I almost gave it away. I finally traded it for a power amp as I was putting together a rack system at the time.
(Bought it at the old Quigley's Music in KCMO). _________________ GFI Ultra Keyless S-10 with pad (Black of course) TB202 amp, Hilton VP, Steelers Choice sidekick seat, SIT Strings

Wasn't the Combo a head+speaker cab thing? Was there ever such an option?
Kind of off-topic, but I played a Session 400 and an Evans FET 500 LV together in tandem for years. I had the Peavy sitting on the floor, mixed real trebly and dry, and the Evans sitting on top, mixed real fat and wet with reverb. They actually sounded great together that way. I had the VP going into input 1 on the Peavy and a short cable from input 2 to input 1 on the Evans. (Or maybe it was the other way around?) Not a true bi-amp, but sort of the same idea. _________________ Drew Pierce

I always thought a combo amp was amp and speakers in the same cabinet. A combination of the amp and speakers. I always heard the separate amp and speaker cabinet as a piggy back amp. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . Thanks Guys, That answers my question, some ads says Peavey sessions 400 combo some just sessions 400 one said sessions 400 tube amp. I have played 400's had 0ne 500 traded it for a fender acoustics, never a peavey 400 with tubes. Jim. |

I always thought a combo was an amp with two channels, a clean channel and a dirty channel, maybe I am wrong. Jim. |

Combo means that the amp and speakers are in the same box, as opposed to head with separate speaker cabinets. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Original Session 400 was available in 2 versions...
Combo=amp and spkrs in the same cab(1-15 or 2-12)...
Head only...no speakers...

We classify a combo amp as a self contained unit, ie; preamp, power amp and speaker all in the same cabinet.
There were two versions of the Session models, ie; Session 400 and the Session 400 Limited. Both models came in either a single 15" or two twelve speaker configuration. More prototypes were tried but that was before my time. |

Mike, I remember the Wedge Model. Was that a Sesson 400 or Nashville 400? _________________ GFI Ultra Keyless S-10 with pad (Black of course) TB202 amp, Hilton VP, Steelers Choice sidekick seat, SIT Strings
