If you're drawn to the C6th sound, you can have the basic 6 changes of the Emmons C6th neck.
I don't recommend calling them A, B and C because those are standard terms for E9th pedals, but call them P1, P2 and P3. I'd tune it
D (or G, your choice)
E
C
A
G
E
C
A

P1, raise 4 and 8 to B (if you're capable of a half-stop, it might come in handy)
P2, raise 2 to F and lower 6 to Eb
P3, raise 7 (perhaps also 3, if you're comfortable with half tone tuners, for which you can use Sho-Bud barrels if you use ⅛" rods
LKL, lower 3 to B
LKR, raise 3 to D and 4 to B
RKL, lower 5 to F#

I don't know if you're terribly familiar with the pull-release, but it absolutely CAN both raise and lower the same string

that spring that holds the finger in a central position should be pretty strong ? its counter acting against the string tension right .

Right. It should exert more than 22 pounds of retractive force.
Wait. I forgot about the leverage. It needs to counteract 22 pounds of string tension.

Pedal 3 raises 7 (and perhaps 3) to C#, turning C6th into A7
