Welcoming my Clinesmith cast aluminum lap steel to the world. She arrived via UPS on 8.2.17 at 7:46 PM, weighing 9 lbs 8 oz, with all 8 strings in tune. She's perfect. Thank you, Todd!

So I take it, it's a girl. I had two boys and one girl............boys are less trouble. Good luck with your new bundle of JOY! _________________ Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40 |

Congratulations, you're gonna love it. Excellent photograph, too. Looks like a candidate for a screen saver. _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe. |

Looks like no guitar volume or tone controls. How do you handle these?

Congrats and welcome to the club. I see you have the blade pickup. Did you get the short or long-scale version? Looking forward to hearing you play her. _________________ Four Pettingills and a Clinesmith Aluminum. Fender Blues Junior. Quilter Mini-101. |

Mikiya - Thank you for expressing much more artfully what I experienced on Tuesday: my guitar arrived from Todd and I'm in steel guitar heaven. Mine is a long scale seven stringer with a horseshoe pup. I look forward to hearing you play your new baby... |

This guitar has Volume and Tone controls, they are a little hard to see in this picture (Black knobs on Black material in traditional location.) |

Two things happened when I got mine: 1) my search for new guitars ended, 2) my need for multiple necks was nullified because I didn't want to play anything else. So, one guitar, one neck, one tuning. Realizing the detriment to my career as a sideman this would cause, I struck out on my own. All because of one guitar! _________________ http://www.steelinstruction.com/

Thanks for the well wishes!
Mike, I hear what you’re saying. The desire to focus on a single tuning is a big reason why I finally pulled the trigger on a Clinesmith. The truth is, when I take my double or triple necks out to gigs, 90% of the night I’m playing A13. I’ve been chasing guitars and tunings for a while and I think it’s time to settle on one--at least for now. I know there’s a lot of music I’ve been missing by hopping between necks.
And Stephen, it’s a long-scale guitar. _________________ www.mikiyamatsuda.com

Congrats Mikiya! I'm sure you will sound fabulous on your new Clinesmith (I have yet to hear a guitar that doesn't sound fabulous in your hands). Can't wait to hear some clips! |

I got a chance to hear Mikiya play this beauty tonight with the Alcatraz Islanders. A fabulous sounding instrument in the hands of a master player with a top notch band... it doesn't really get any better!!
Highly recommended if you ever get the chance... |

You're too kind, Rusty! Thanks for stopping by and sitting in with us. As much as I love playing my Clinesmith, I wish I could have cut out early to hear more of your set across town with the Western Centuries. Your playing on the few tunes I caught took tastefulness to the next level.
