I might be considering a New Guitar , What would you Choose if you were buying a New instrument What maker, brand would you buy,, and why ? Im looking at a D 10 Aluminum necks maybe 8 and 5 wood or mica ? I like something in Red. Russ    |

For amazing engineering, MSA and the new Sierra. Or the WBS or Schild.
Best bang for the buck, probably the Excel.
For Beautiful and great guitars, Benrom, William and Show Pro, and the British Sheffield and I forgot to mention the Desert Rose
There's not a single guitar I would refuse to order on the grounds of the guitar (there's a few who've made me absolutely think the lesser of the makers, but that's an entirely different subject)
The Mullen, Justice and a few others don't make me drool, but I would own and play one in a heartbeat.
If you like pull-release tone, don't forget Bob Simmons.

Is Simmons still making guitars? I just went to his website, and only got the text, "go away". Www.simmonspedalsteel.com is what I have.

I'm not in the same league as a player as a lot of these guys, but I've had quite a few guitars over the years. I grew up in Middle Tennessee with the Sho Bud sound in my head and used to hang out at the Sho Bud store downtown. I'm playing a Jackson Pro IV now--it's got the best of the Sho Bud tone, but has considerably upgraded mechanics that holds it's own against anything I've played. Hands down the best steel I've played.

Richard, Bob never even had patience for email.
Somebody set up a website for him, and there'd been no maintenance or domain maintenance, et cetera, so it's a safe bet that someone stopped paying hosting fees.
I'd look his phone number up, he's in Trafford, Alabama.
If I were still in the moneyed situation, I'd love to have Bob make me a fully loaded pull-release in a Giles cabinet

I would go with a Rittenberry. Gary is back working and you will not find a better steel guitar in my opinion! Google Rittenberry guitars.

I've tried several brands before I ended up with a Mullen G2. I'm not looking for anything else. Mullen is #1 in my book, and service after the sale is always there.
