I'm looking for a double neck instrument that has a six string guitar on the bottom with an eight string mandolin on top... Similar to what Joe Maphis played except with the mandolin on top instead of the six string octave guitar Joe had on his... I saw one in the Band's video on their final CD when they did "The Weight". Robbie Robertson was playing a Gibson instrument with both necks... I've seen one more in a museum which was made by Bigsby but I'd never be able to afford one or those.... I only have a cash budget of $2,000 to $2,500... Thanks, JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Hey Michael, thanks for posting those pages from the old Carvin catalog. That double neck mando/guitar would be right up my alley for sure....JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

If anyone knows where one is I think Deke Dickerson would.
I think you can email him through the Forum.

For $300 I think I'd take a chance. |

I got to play one of those Carvin Mandolin/guitars, and I thought it was a great instrument. Of course, they're very rare and expensive.
I think that your best bet would be finding a luthier that would build you one. _________________ "it's not in bad taste, if it's funny." - john waters |
