Topic: To hollow or not to hollow, that is my question |

I have recently watched a video on Youtube from a guy claiming that hollowing the neck (wood) of a lap steel is beneficial to it's sound. Is this true? All of my home builds are solid except the aluminum one. I am pretty sure the aluminum one has it's own unique sound due to the fact it is metal and the other 2 are maple. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Interesting idea Bill !! The Rick frypans from before the war had hollow necks, and the post-war models were solid. Bobby Ingano feels like the solid post war types have more sustain (?) He has both, so that's his feeling ! I've had both too but couldn't say it's true !

Finally, someone willing to post an opinion. I think, but am not sure maybe that Tutbro has a hollow neck? Anyone out there have one of those?
