My Fender reissue tone volume pedal reduces the volume and rolls off the highs of my Clinesmith JM S8. Replacement of the pots was suggested in prior forum posts, but I did not find anything about how effective this actually was. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jim

First thing to check would be that both pots open completely when at full stroke. If not, that would explain your volume and tone loss.

I don't think that changing a pot in the pedal would help. Try using the shortest and lowest capacitance cable that you can get. Also try a buffer amp at the guitar output.

My re-issue Fender Vol/Tone pedal works exactly the same as my vintage pedal. You might hear a slight decrease in volume and high end compared to running the guitar straight into the amp, but only very slight. I agree with Jim Smith - make sure the pots are full on when the pedal is fully engaged.

With the side-to-side platform centered on the pedal, the tone pot is already at the half-way point. You have to crank it all the way in one direction (I've forgotten which) if you don't want any roll-off. I suppose there could be a way to change the pot position with the pedal centered if that's your problem.

As Bill says, the tone is at the halfway point at the center position. It is designed to be used with it fully to the right in the default "resting" position. It is passive - treble cut only - so neutral is fully on.

I'd say that's the last thing you want to use. I have a Goodrich Matchbox which does the dame thing as the Izzy and if I use it, the tone sweep on the foot pedal does absolutely nothing at all.
