While owning and playing various fine guitars through the years, I've owned a Mullen Steel continuously since 1992.
Now, while approaching my mid 60's, I've decided to downsize and lighten the load a little. So, I called Mike Mantey and asked if he would build a Mullen Discovery for me, 3 & 5, with split tuning, a complete polish package, 1" over height w/o pin striping, resulting in an all black motif. The result was even better than I could have imagined. It seemed that everyone at Mullen went well beyond what I would consider normal customer service and the guitar exceeded any and all expectations. Here are a few pics...

Hi Jerry,
I also think it looks better without the pin stripes.
That was a good choice.
Indeed the crew at Mullen are very good.
Best regards,

Jerry, that might be the first Discovery I've seen with the changer tapped for splits. Great idea on a great guitar. All black motif is very sharp! |

Hello Dan, thanks. The folks at Mullen began offering the split tuning option a few months ago on new Discovery guitars or separately for pre-existing ones. Whenever I ordered mine new from Mike Mantey, I specified the split tuning option as well as a mechanical half stop on the 2nd string. Although I specified a few more things not normally associated with a Discovery, my guitar was built exactly as ordered and shipped in a timely manner. I'm very pleased as I have always been through the years with the wonderful service at Mullen Steel Guitars. _________________ GFI w/L710, A pair of Peavey Nashville 112’s, Peavey “fex units”, Hilton VP, BJS, Steelers Choice, Furman, Evidence Audio Forte |
