This will be Great. Not just learning a song but how to back up a Singer.
For the money you can't beat this. The instructor is the best when it comes to teaching,
The pedal steel, there's no doubt.
Try it and see. He is very easy to follow..

Great idea, William! Technique like this can be very valuable since backing up singers in a band situation happens probably more than soloing alone. Looking forward to Saturday.

I'm really glad to see William addressing how to play with singers. I think that's the only way to keep steel guitar alive. Bands are not interested in how many instrumentals you can play. You have to know how to work with the singers and the other players. I'm sure William will explain how you don't play all the time and on top of the singers or other lead players. William is a very seasoned player and has worked with a lot of good bands. He knows the right stuff to teach you. If you are learning to play and want to be a respected player in your music circles, this course is a must have for you.

Thanks guys. Backing a singer is an art in its self. I must say I have heard a lot of players in bands that just don't get it. They play to loud or over the singer and that will not work. Like Rick said, to be a respected player you have to know how to back a singer. Rick also mentioned playing with other players. Sometimes that can be a challenge.

In this part of Steelin Techniques, I will try to teach the right way and the right things to play when playing behind a singer.

If you play a steel guitar you will find yourself having to play with other instruments and backing singers...Playing in local bands , playing in church or just a family get-together , this is a must......Watch my promo , Join us.....

That's right, William. Something we all can use some work on. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what we are trying to play we play over the singer or too loud or too much! A much needed lesson for sure.
Glad I tune in every week! Wink

Larry I agree with you on backing a singer! William did a great job kicking off this new segment on the broadcast. This should be helpful to a lot of steel players wanting to play with a band.

guys

this months project tune with William is a Conway Twitty classic "15yrs ago "

The Saturday " Steelin Techniques " sessions will teach not only the melody but backing up a singer fills as well.

William's weekly broadcasts are excellent value and a heck of a lot of fun.

Great lesson on (15 Years Ago) fills. For the price he charges I can see that William is not in this for the money but for the love of keeping the instrument alive?

Thank you Pierre. I am creating a new page for that series and I don't have it ready yet. The Backing A Singer series will be on a page on my website by itself. Thanks again.....
