DC Voltage, DC Current, AC Voltage, Resistance, Transistor Test, Diode Test, and Battery Test.

Any simple, useful things a guitarist can do with one of these before it breaks? (It's from Harbor Freight and was free!)

One of the most handy tools you can have in your tool box. Check cables, volume pots, etc, etc, etc.

I've got a high end DVM (Digital Volt Meter) but I use the cheapie (and free) Harbor Freight meter most of the time.

Great for a quick check of cables, line voltage, batteries. I have lots of high end meters but the HF freebe gets used a lot and if it happens to get dropped or whatever it really doesn't matter. I have several of these around the house, car, and in the music setup.

Those blue, multi LED lights (also free from HF) are another great addition.

Like this Cen-Tech? I've had a couple of these around for a few years. Cheap plastic case but they're pretty durable in normal environments. Work OK for me. Only thing I miss is the beeper continuity checker my RS meter has, but what does one expect for free?

I can't speak to the accuracy and calibration but they do what I need.

I use one quite a bit for basic checking of open/shorted circuits, wiring runs continuity, DC Resistance of pickups, p/s voltage, polarity etc.

HF has coupons everywhere (newspapers, magazines, junk mail, etc....). If you signup for their email they send various coupons every couple of days.
