These aluminum 6061 precise cnc produced sockets are very strong and won't break under load. Use these to screw in your legs for your lap steel stand. These are 2 15/16' in diameter. I am showing both sides of the piece in the picture.

You need 1/2' diameter legs with #13 thread to screw into these sockets. Standard size of the industry.

These sockets are available on my website: http://www.sillmusicsupply.com/Steel-Guitar-Legs-Sockets_c_12.html

Where do you get a 2 15/16" Forstner bit to install them?

First you don't have to countersink them. Most people flush mount them. They aluminum comes 3" in diameter to the machine shop. When made inrsockets they take 1/16" off to make sure they are perfectly round and clean and finished. Just use a 3 inch bit if you insist sinking them down 1/4".

100's of customers have used these strong sockets and they love them.
