Has anyone ever used one of these cabs? I'm kind of interested in 2 of these with a 12" in them for my rack unit but I was wondering if anyone else had tried one, how do they sound with steel?
This is the single 12" model.

Those,probably are closed back? I don't like the sound of closed back cabinets I like the design but wouldn't consider for the above reason.

George I'm not sure, I actually believe they are open, but I can't find out if they are or not. Maybe someone that has the cabs will chime in and tell us more about them.

I've been curious about these cabinets as well, but I haven't tried them. I'm pretty sure you can order them with open back. You can also check out Coyote Cabs Alpha Pup. They sell them on-line. I think they are a bit cheaper in price. The build quality appears to be similar.
What has held me back from both of these cabinets is that they are made with plywood. I've found I really prefer the sound of solid pine cabinets, plus pine is lighter.
In my experience, cabinets do make a difference in tone.

| I think both closed & open back have their advantages. If you're using two cabs why not try it with one of each? I did that with a pair of homemade cabs & it sounded great. Only problem with them is I didn't consider weight and made them out of a dense maple 3/4"ply. They were both closed and properly ported but then I ended up cutting the back of one in half and it did open it up quite a bit. |
