...sorry couldn't complete the entire headline question due to space...

Does anyone make a wireless digitally controlled PA mixer that allows control either with on-board sliders/knobs as well as control with a remote, WIFI connected tablet?

Mackie has a system - but it's absolutely dependent on an iPad and WIFI to control the board. I'm not at all comfortable depending on a tablet AND a mixer AND a router - any of which could fail - with no fallback to to traditional sliders and knobs.

We recently played a bigger gig that had sound provided by a professional sound company. While doing the sound-check, the poor guys' iPad died - he ended up running the system with his cell phone. Everything worked fine, but it alerted me to the chain of failure.

We like the idea of setting sound by wandering around and not having to run a snake - but....

Sure..QSC Touch Mix 16 Channel, and the just came out with a 24 channel if 16 isn't enough. Our band has used the 16 for well over a year..superb mixer.

If you're wanting more knobs and faders, then the Presonus series would be what you're looking for. Like George, I have been using a QSC Touchmix16 mixer and it works great. They recently updated the firmwear and while it makes some things smaller on the unit's screen, it's nice not having to navigate to a different page to access certain things.

My band uses the QSC 16 and it works great. There's an app so you can control it with an Iphone or Ipad as it has it's own Wifi built in to it.
