I know this is an old book and most of you who are interested have probably read it, but I just recently bought this book and am really enjoying reading it. He talks about the different artist he recorded with, etc. He mentioned that Marty Robbins played the steel for him one time and he wasnt aware that Marty played at all, but he went on to say that Marty was so talented that he wasnt surprised. If you havent read it, I think you would enjoy it. Sorry for bringing up an old topic, but I just love to listen to his recordings and read about him. I need to find the album he made with Burl Ives...that has to be a good one !

It is a good read. I got the book a few years back without having any great knowledge of who Jerry Byrd was. I found the anecdotes both amusing and interesting and there is great general advice about being a musician as a profession. And I share a birthday with him!

The only thing wrong with Jerry's book is that there is not enough of it.

Yes, it's a nice book ! I bought one from Jerry just after he published it,
at an HSGA convention in Oahu. The Queen Kapiolani Hotel was the place for the conventions... His wife was there also, and she signed a picture of her in the book. One other nice thing was he signed the inside cover, with "Hey Bill ! Da Bas....some Hawaiian slang there ! Very Happy

He does mention some country singers....some good, and some not too honest !! Smile
