I'm looking for a Line 6 workbench used so that I can connect my Variax 500 to my computer.

I have a Variax 600 and don't remember paying for the Workbench. As I recall, it's a free download from the Line-6 website. But you'll need Line-6 Monkey installed first. But then again, Sweetwater.com sells it $99, so that confuses me.

Your right it's free but you will need a pod xt live in order to connect your guitar to the computer.[ which mine pod xt live is dead] When you buy workbench you get a dongle [ computer hook up] which is $99.

Not sure if this will work or not, but I have an idea that would be much cheaper. You could buy a USB to Cat5e adapter and plug the guitar into the adapter, and the adapter into the computer. It may work as the "dongle" you would be buying for $99. You can get an adapter on Amazon for about $5. So if it doesn't work, you're not out much cash!
