I'm looking for CDs by Reece Anderson. I understand that there were 2 made, maybe more. I looked on Amazon and did not find any.

Anyone know a source for Reece Anderson's CDs?

Thanks!

I had a 3 hour drive last weekend and broke out an old Maurice Anderson recording I have. I don't know if they exist, but I would love to find some cd's of him, Curly Chalker and Julian Tharpe.

Read this thread re Maurice:

Julian did I think 3 LPs, but I don't know if there has ever been a legit CD reissue of them. Most likely somebody has burned their own LPs onto CD, but I can't recall anyone making them commercially available.

As for 'official CDs' of Reece's material, there are six that I know of. Most of his work was only available on record and tape.

At the time of Reece's passing, he had three for sale ("The Universal Direction", Steel With Brass", and "Steel Playin' Texas Swing"). Jim Palenschar was selling Reece's remaining stock of these. I don't know if he has any left or not.

There were also two compilation CDs produced by Mike Perlowin (Upon Request: A Musical Decade Vols. 1 & 2). These are both out of print.

The other CD is the jazz album he did with guitarist Jim Stahlhut called "Out Of Nowhere". Jim is a forum member and may have this CD available. He did a few years back.

Reece's playing is also featured heavily on some albums by Johnny Case and some by Johnny Gimble. Some of these have been issued on CD as well.

Hope this helps. Somebody correct me if I missed any.

PM Mike Perlowin about 2 CDs of "the best of" Reece he has for sale - they're terrific recordings.
