A non-musician friend of mine just sent a phone pic of the steel in this act.
It's a show pro, tobacco sunburst with a white sho bud fretboard. Appears to have multiple pickups. Two ten string, string master type pickups, side by side, and very close to the bridge. Then, what appears to be a more conventional steel pickup up closer to the fret board. Very unique.

His steel player is Mike Daly. Mike has been in Hank's band for quite awhile, and when Hank doesn't play shows, Mike plays for Travis Tritt. He's played Emmons, Sho-Bud, and ShowPro steel guitars

Tim Sergent plays steel with Dierks. He joined Dierks' band in late 2005, playing Emmons steels, then by 2007, Tim was playing a Mullen. In recent years, Tim's been playing a Jackson Pro IV, a Jackson Blackjack, and a Blackjack Custom with Dierks. |

Steve....Mike Daly here. Yes, that is a S-10 Show Pro,#0004. This guitar has been modified over the years. Built for Russ Pahl, it started out as a D-10. Russ then took the back neck off and added the second pickup on the E9th neck, one which he wound himself to Jazzmaster specs. I purchased this guitar from a friend 5 years ago. Since then I have changed out the bridge pickup. Yes, it is a double coil Stringmaster copy made by Jason Lollar. I have a coil tap that can split the pickup into 2 single coils. This guitar has been my current favorite lately, including using it to record a new album I am releasing in fall.. |

Thanks Mike , my Bud, who knows nothing about steel , took a photo of just enough of the steel to make me wonder. Thank you for taking the time to respond. While the Casinos and Hank Jr maybe aren't my thing, Seeing that set up had me curious , I would have loved to hear it, and to hear you play it and say hello. I'm sure it sounds unique and appropriate for the act. Something " outside the box" is pretty cool.
Thanks again for the reply. |
